Stella 7 weeks old

Tue 4 April 2023

The plan is now that I am picking up Stella (Team Art Kåra) on the 22th of April, she will then be 10 weeks old. If I get an excemption to the requirement of a rabies vaccination and the development of antibodies (21 days needed for them to fully develop), we are driving down to Austria beginning of May, after she get her rabies vaccination (5th of May). If I do not get the excemption we are going to Austria end of May.

If everything works out with the documents, I am planning to go to Sweden in April to pick up this young lady, a lapponian herder. On the picture she is 5 weeks old. To bring her to Austria I will need an exemption to a new law from last year, stating that all dogs entering into Austria must have a rabies vaccination at least 21 days ago to ensure a good immune response. A rabies vaccination can earliest be administered at week 12, which means that a dog has to be at least 16 weeks old to enter Austria. Before, it was possible to take a dog up to 12 weeks old with out a rabies vaccination and a dog between 12 and 15 weeks with a rabies vaccination given at week 12. I hope I can get a waiver, since I am bringing her by myself and I am the owner of the dog and she is not for sale. Because of the rules in Germany, it looks like I have to fly from Sweden to Austria with the dog. On a flight with Austrian Airlines the dog has to be at least 12 weeks old and must not exceed 8 kg, I think that should be manageble. Another option is that I pick up her at age 12 weeks get a her a rabies vaccination and travel around in Sweden for three weeks before heading down to Austria.

From St. Andrä to Tulln and back

Fri 3 Mar 2023

This years first biking "tour", was letting my bike getting some fresh air. As the first bike ride of the year outdoor I did a one hour ride at a moderate pace (~25 km/h). Wanted to check that everything was okay on the bike, since I have change the crankset (50-34), chain and cassett (11-32) from 105 to Ultegra. The crankset is a fully integrated, dual sided power meter, from Giant. Really fun to see the power output during a ride, as today comparting the speed and power against the wind and then on the way home with the wind, call me a nerd. However, my power output is dimal compared to good riders, but who cares I have fun and I really love my bike. I also tested my new radar tail light from Garmin the I got as a gift when I left Valneva. When paired with my Edge 830 I am noticed when something is approching from behind, feels a little bit safer, while some times you do not hear the car approching. The smart headlight I have to test another time when it is darker.
Unfortunately, it will probably will take two weeks before I can make my next bike ride. I am heading of to Sweden.

This is my first blog entry, let see how good I am at keeping up with writing on this home page. Today I mounted the bike rack on my camper, I am slowly getting ready for my first longer tour, but still missing some stuff for cooking.
